Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels Auction

Sotheby's promise diamonds that enchant a queen in their Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction held in Geneva on 15 May. The auction will feature an array of signed jewels from prominent designers and jewellery makers, together with remarkable precious stones and antique jewellery. The headline for this sale is the historic and highly important Fancy Dark Grey-Blue diamond weighing 6.16 carats, given by the Philippines to Elisabeth Farnese (1692-1766) Queen of Spain, by marriage to King Philip V (1683-1746), will be offered for sale on this occasion, along with other exceptional jewels. 1. Emerald, pink sapphire and diamond bracelet/brooch combination. Estimate - CHF 50,000 - 60,000 / US$ 50,000 - 60,000. Uniquely clever, this bracelet can be transformed into a brooch.

2. Impressive emerald and diamond bracelet. Estimate: CHF 340,000 - 475,000 / US$335,000 - 495,000. The emerald Corrigan bracelet, so named in the Mount Stewart archives, was noted for its central emerald of immense size that was understood to have been acquired by Cartier directly from an Indian Maharajah.

3. Fancy vivid purplish pink diamond ring weighing 2.63 carats. Estimate: CHF 1,920,000 - 2,880,000 / US$2,000,000 - 3,000,000. Luscious and rare, this Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink diamond is so exceptionally saturated it displays mysterious flashes of red.

4. Pair of fancy light blue and fancy light pink diamond pendent earrings. Estimate: CHF 2,690,000 - 3,840,000 / US$2,800,000 - 4,000,000. The two rarest coloured diamonds, pink and blue, are paired together in this asymmetric masterpiece. Weighing 6.25, 6.41, 7.16 and 8.03 carats, each diamond is a soft hue of pink and blue making these dreamy diamonds an irresistible pair of earrings.

Christie's Magnificent Jewellery Auctions

16th May sees Christie's Magnificent Jewels auction, and they are reporting that the offering is so good that the lot catalogue reads as an encyclopaedia of the finest jewellery, with lots ranging from a late 19th century Tiffany & Co. emerald and diamond necklace to an important collection of modern Cartier pieces. A few of our stand out, jaw dropping eye popping pieces are:

1. 20.49 carat, SENSATIONAL COLOURED DIAMOND RING. Estimate CHF 3,800,000 - CHF 4,500,000 (USD 3,841,942 - USD 4,549,669) Fancy vivid yellow rectangular cut-cornered diamond of 20.49 carats.

Estimate CHF 2,500,000 - CHF 3,500,000 (USD 2,527,594 - USD 3,538,631) Fancy intense blue pear modified brilliant-cut diamond of 5.03 carats, fancy vivid yellow pear modified brilliant-cut diamond of 4.16 carats, tapered baguette-cut diamonds and yellow diamonds, platinum and gold, ring size 5 ½, signed Cartier, numbered.

3. 50.47 carats, SUPERB DIAMOND RING, HARRY WINSTON. Estimate CHF 5,000,000 - CHF 7,000,000 (USD 5,055,188 - USD 7,077,262) Cushion brilliant-cut of 50.47 carats, platinum, ring size 6 ¾, maker's mark, blue Harry Winston case and pouch.
